The Artist's Statement

Throughout the massive oceans where the mighty currents creep, glides a Hump-Back with her offspring, masters of the deep. Relics of the days gone by when monsters ruled the land. Remaining pods of Humpback Whales make their final stand. These mighty giants are fighting to survive. All they ask is a place in the oceans where man cannot even exist. Can we not grant them this simple wish? View this sculpture with "open eyes" and see the plight facing one of the largest mammals on earth. Look even closer as danger is always nearby. Do you see the two sharks I have hidden within the grains of the wood on the rear of the sculpture?
