10" X 9" - $74.95 The "Hidden Story" Behind "PRAIRIE THUNDER" - BISON The Artist's Statement In this piece I've tried to capture the feeling of a thundering herd of bison. As you study this sculpture, go back in time. Go back to the days when the earth seemed "alive"...it seemed to move as millions of bison stampeded across the prairie... miles of them. Bison sustained a nation of Native American Indians for thousands of years before becoming a tool to be used in the removal of the Indians from the land, I have hidden a prehistoric cave drawing of a bison running just behind the hoof, Do you see the frightened young calf, trying franticly to keep up just left of center? Just above the calf is the image of a snake. Did the snake spook the herd? Who knows? Sorry, all sculptures have now been officially retired Back To The Series Of Evolution |
